Consiglio l’esperienza a tutti quelli che hanno almeno i rudimenti dell’hiking, la salita alla muraglia è dura ma quando si arriva il panorama ripaga di tutte le fatiche! Steven è semplicemente fantastico… Grazie

I rarely write reviews but this was an experience that I’d encourage everybody to do (providing you enjoy camping and hiking). Steven is great and takes care of all the planning, supplies, and logistics, leaving you to enjoy the scenery, history, sunset, sunrise, and hike. He also brought home-cooked food and is very knowledgeable & passionate about the Wall. The hike is moderate in difficulty – short but steep. Overall, an amazing experience!

This was a unique and fantastic experience, a highlight of my recent trip to China. Steven is knowledgeable, well-prepared, thoughtful and funny – the perfect guide really! He went above and beyond to make the adventure a great success, from his expert guiding skills, to the delicious food he prepared, to tailoring the experience to suit my schedule, and to sharing his deep knowledge of history and culture and stories from his life. Thanks again Steven for this memorable adventure! I can highly recommend it 🙂

Une expérience inoubliable avec Steven. Seuls sur la Muraille de Chine. Il pense à tout, est aux petits soins pour nous, et s’adapte à nous. Parfait pour les aventuriers qui sont également sportifs!

I booked this experience a few months before my trip to China. It looked like a really UNIQUE way to experience one of the seven wonders, avoiding the mainstream sections which are always very very crowded. And it was! It was unique, it was special, it was intimate, it was a lifetime experience! If you want to experience something which you’ll remember forever, this experience is for you. Steven and I didn’t meet one single person, the entire Great Wall was just there, for us, and I have no words to describe that feeling. Steven took great care of me, since the very first message I sent him months ago to a few days after the hiking (he’s still so available for any questions or need while I’m still in China). He’s genuinely interested in other cultures so we shared a lot of habits of Chinese and Italian people. The hiking itself has some easy parts and some more challenging ones (said by a really not sporty person) but it’s doable and you’ll feel so good once you’ll reach the Great Wall. Steven also took some nice pics of me and brought me to have a foot massage when we want back to Beijing. It was great after the hiking! Oh! And we also made dumplings (and ate them, of course!) with the village people, the night before the hiking. I’m still in China and I’m still recommending Steven’s experience to anyone I meet so do yourself a favor and book this amazing adventure. You won’t regret! Thanks Steven!

Steven is a very nice guy. we meet at the train station in Beijing, where we then took a public bus to get to the great wall. it was a 2 hour ride. At the bus station we got picked up by a friend of Steven who dropped us of at the beginning of the trail. We started the hike around 5pm. It was a very remote hike. Once we reached the great wall, we left our luggage at our camping spot and started to take a walk in one direction. The views were stunning. I got to experience a beautiful sunset on the great wall. Once we set up our tents, which were provided by Steven, like the sleeping bag, the mattress and a headlamp, we looked for a wind covered place to have dinner. Steven prepared a very heartwarming dinner with self made bread, pre cooked potatoes, nuts, corn vegetables and a beer. We had a great time and talked until late in the evening. The next morning we got up at 4am in order to see the sunrise. Went back to bed at 5am and slept 2 more hours. At 7, we had breakfast, which were fruits, meat and some leftovers from the night before. The hike was amazing and it was the true great wall experience I was hoping to get. The trail was at some points quite challenging and overall we only meet 5 other people in a two day hike. we arrived at the village around 2 pm where Stevens friend waited for us at his home. He cooked a delicious lunch. Afterwards he drove us to the bus station and went back home. I will never forget this weekend and it truly was the highlight of my china trip. Definitely recommend his tour 10/10 for anyone who really wants to experience the great wall!

Amazing, once in a lifetime experience, made possible by a great host. Initially my girlfriend and i were hesitating a little bit: a walk in the dark on loose underground, it seemed dangerous. Also, we already had our hotel room booked for that night. Nevertheless we signed up. Steven was answering quickly on all of our questions. Some days before the tour, he suggested a change of location, other than in the description. We agreed on going to Gubeikou instead, after seeing some pictures, and relying on Stevens expertise. We were picked up at our hotel and after a few hours on the way we made it to the Wall, just on time to still see the sunset as well, as an unexpected bonus. The next morning, when we left at 4.20am, the first light started to brighten up the night, so we did not even need the flash lights. The sunrise, Wall and surroundings were mindblowing. A fierce walk on and next to the Wall followed. As we enjoy hiking, we kept a decent pace and made it to the next section of the Wall in Jinshanling. On the way back, we just could not get enough of it and Steven agreed on ajusting the route and making it significantly longer. He was even excited to discover a new way back to the guest house with us. The food we received was not culinary exquisite, but very tasty and authentic. In conclusion: an amazing experience with a host that goes the extra mile (or 5) for you. Thanks Steven!
